Dr. Karl and Dr. Sara Koelling

Dr. Karl and Dr. Sara Koelling became residents of Kingsley, Iowa, in June of 1999. Upon Dr. Karl's graduation from University of Nebraska Medical Center's College of Denistry in May of 1999, he moved to Kingsley to begin working at Kingsley Dental Clinic. Correctionville Dental Clinic was purchased in 2002 and Marcus Dental Clinic was opened in 2010.


Dr Sara graduated from University of Nebraska College of Denistry in May of 2000 and joined Dr. Karl at the Kingsley Dental Clinic at that time.

Dr. Karl was born Falls City, Nebraska, and lived in Kearney, Seward and Norfolk, Nebraska, before residing in Lincoln to do his undergraduate studies at Nebraska Wesleyan University. Dr. Sara was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska, and did her undergraduate studies at Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska.


Drs. Karl and Sara met while attending dental school and were married in Lincoln, Nebraska, on July 25, 1998. Their son, Vincent Karl, was born on April 6, 2006. Their daughter, Vanessa Sara, was born on February 22, 2008. In addition to dentistry and spending time with Vincent and Vanessa, Karl and Sara enjoy golfing and being involved in music. Sara is a violinist and currently plays with the Sioux City Symphony. Karl has enjoyed singing with Master Chorale in Sioux City. Karl directs the choir at First Lutheran in Kingsley and Sara accompanies the choir as well as serving as the organist at First Lutheran where they are members.


 

Dental Assistants


Dental Assistants work directly with the dentist while patients receive treatment. They review and maintain patients' charts, pass instruments to the dentist during procedures, sterilize instruments, take temporary impressions of teeth for study models, and take x-rays. They also assist with tasks such as scheduling appointments and ordering supplies.


Dental Hygienist


Dental Hygienists remove soft and hard deposits from teeth, and teach patients how to practice good oral hygiene. Hygienist examine patients' teeth and gums, recording the presence of diseases or abnormalities. They remove calculus, stains, and plaque from teeth, perform root planing as a periodontal therapy, take x-rays, and apply cavity preventive agents such as fluorides and pits and fissure sealants.
